Julie Compton is a native Californian who lives in Fallbrook with her husband, George. George had a 27 year career in the Army so the family got to travel and see a good part of the world. She and George still do a lot of traveling now that he has retired.
Over the years she has dabbled in various art forms, everything from quilting to clay and now enjoys painting. Her current medium is pastels. She loves the vibrant colors and the way they work on paper. Landscapes are of special interest because she can share the beautiful places she has traveled as well as her favorite haunts in Southern California. She likes to paint en plein air, but has to admit to being a fair weather painter and also uses photos she or her husband has taken on site. She is a signature member the Pastel Society of the Gold Coast.
“Color and texture have always fascinated me; I guess you could call me a colorist. I enjoy the challenge of capturing the beauty I see and sharing with others in hopes it will help them see more of the beauty in their lives.”
