Helen Beacham, (Summerville,South Carolina)
I am overstimulated with visuals at every turn. I have no need for “setting up” a scene because I’m instinctively drawn to what’s right in front of me at any given moment. (I must admit that my brain tends to tune out the modern and the new, instead grabbing hold of the old, the timeworn, and oftentimes the forgotten.)
Although my painting style is realism, I inject my personal feelings, which in turn softens and eases the approach for the casual viewer. I want to leave them feeling that I’ve shown them something they’ve not noticed or witnessed before.
