In Jan's college years, 1956-1960, at Long Beach City College and graduating from UCLA art department, she found her love of developing art from found objects. This was long before the current interest in this process. Opportunities developed in the Interior Design industry leading to her founding of JTA in 1980er to the trade showroom became a go to place for its unique collection of contemporary/ethnic home furnishings and art. Jan retired in 2012 from the world of business and devoted full time to her passion, finding harmony in putting together "stuff"
