Exhibition Details
Frank Eber employs practical judgment as an exhibition judge. “The best reason for entering shows is sharing genuine feelings and ideas without the need to please peers or look for acceptance and reward. Ironically once art comes from that deeper place, all the accolades just arrive without trying.”
The Artist Statement is as impossible as the verbal description of a classical symphony or a moving song. I like the idea of conveying a subjective, emotional response to the natural world.
Painting should go deeper than copying nature as it is. It should be a personal response and a characterization of what is before us and in harmony with it. I try to understand a scene, but not intellectually. I can paint it how it is, that’s easy! The interpretation of the thing that’s underneath–what gives it life–I’d like to find.
